PROJECT COORDINATOR
Dr. Hamza Preljević is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations (PSIR) at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS). Concurrently, he serves as the director of the Balkan Studies Center (BSC) at IUS. Dr. Preljević has held various academic-administrative positions at IUS, including Demonstrator (2015-2016), Managing Editor at Epiphany – Journal of Transdisciplinary Studies (2019-2021), Secretary of the Balkan Studies Center (2019-2023), and Senior Assistant (2016-2024). Additionally, he has actively participated in numerous working groups and academic committees at IUS. In May 2023, he successfully defended his doctoral dissertation entitled "The EU's Transformative Power through a Strategy of Conditionality and Europeanization in a Contested State: Bosnia and Herzegovina (2015-2022)," earning his Ph.D. in International Relations from IUS. Dr. Preljević's research interests encompass a wide range of topics, including Bosnian politics, Bosnian Muslims' issues, Western Balkan studies, EU integration, and security studies, with a particular focus on transatlantic relations and NATO's engagement with the Western Balkans. He has authored/co-authored numerous articles, book chapters, and book reviews published in reputable journals and by respected publishers. PROJECT TEAM MEMBERS
Dr. Ena Kazić-Çakar is Dean of the Faculty of Law of the International University of Sarajevo and Associate Professor in the scientific area of Criminal Law. She holds a Ph.D. in Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Sarajevo. Dr.sci. Kazić-Çakar received two Gold Medals as being the best student in her cohort during her BA and MA studies at the same University. She authored many scientific publications, such are scientific articles in reputable law journals, books “Application of Educational Recommendations as a form of Restorative Justice in the Canton Sarajevo, for the period 2012-2017“, and „Sexual Violence in the Contemporary Criminal Law “. She is the Editor in Chief of the IUS Law Journal, a member of the Research Committee of the European Forum for Restorative Justice, an educator for the Center for the Education of Judges and Prosecutors of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and a reviewer for several renewed international law journals. Her research currently addresses various topics from the criminal law field such are sexual violence prevention, corruption prevention, transitional and restorative justice. Dr. Mirza Ljubović is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law at the International University of Sarajevo. He earned his Ph.D. in 2023 at the Faculty of Law of the University of Mostar, specializing in international law, after which he was appointed to the academic title of Assistant Professor of Public International Law at the Faculty of Law, International University of Sarajevo. From 2017 to 2022, he served as the Faculty Secretary, and until 2023, he was also a Senior Teaching Assistant at the same institution. His additional education spans the fields of Comparative Constitutional and European Law, Migration Management, Diplomacy and Cooperation, Internationalization, and Sustainable Development. He has participated in numerous conferences and seminars, moderating public lectures, panels, and roundtable discussions. He is fluent in English language and has been teaching in English language at the university level. Dr. Kenan Ademović is an Assistant Professor of State and International Law and an attorney at the law office of "Filipović and Ademović" in Sarajevo. He holds a Bachelor's and a Master's degree from the Faculty of Law at the University of Sarajevo, as well as a second Master's degree from Bologna University and the London School of Economics. He earned his Ph.D. at the University of Sarajevo. Dr. Ademović is the author of several books and scholarly articles and serves as a reviewer for several academic journals. He has previously worked with USAID and the OSCE. His research interests focus on EU Law, Legal Theory, and Constitutional Law. E-mail: kademovic@ius.edu.ba.
Dr. Hana Šarkinović-Köse is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law, International University of Sarajevo. She earned her Doctorate in Law from the Faculty of Law, University "Džemal Bijedić," Mostar, in July 2024. Her academic journey began with a BA and BA Hons from the Faculty of Legal Sciences, University of Donja Gorica, Montenegro, in 2012 and 2013, followed by an MA from the Faculty of Law, University of Sarajevo, in 2015. Her professional experience includes serving as a legal trainee at the Montenegrin Agency for Personal Data Protection and Free Access to Information, Legal Advisor and Faculty Secretary at the Faculty of Law, IUS, and Director of Zenith Group Sarajevo. She has also been a member of the IUS FLW Council. Currently, she is the Managing Editor of the IUS Law Journal and Section Editor of the Journal of Interdisciplinary Legal Studies, in addition to serving on the SDG Executive Committee, Ethics Council, and Monitoring Student Success Committee. In 2023, she was appointed by the Council of Europe Congress of Local and Regional Authorities as a Full Member of the Group of Independent Experts on the European Charter of Local Self-Government for Montenegro (2023-2028). RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
Dr. Harun Halilović is an Assistant Professor at IUS Law School. He holds a BA in Law from the University of Sarajevo, and an LL.M. from Queen Mary University of London. He obtained a PhD in Law from the University of Tuzla Faculty of Law. He is the author of several research articles and books.
